Gates

Currently, there are six available gates: Rectangle, Polygon, Range, Quadrant, Ellipse, and Boolean

Create Gate

To create a new gate for the current file, select a gate type from the side panel. The method to draw a gate differs depending on the type of gate.

Rectangle

Click on the plot to place a vertex of the rectangle. Then drag to draw the rectangle and release to finalize the gate.

Polygon

Click to place vertices of the polygon. Click the first placed vertex to finalize the gate.

Range

Click on the plot to place a bound of the range. Then drag to draw the range and release to finalize the gate.

Quadrant

Click on the plot to place the center of the quadrants. Release to finalize the gate.

Ellipse

Click on the plot to place one end of the ellipse. Then drag to draw the ellipse and release to finalize the gate.

Boolean

Boolean gates are created differently. To create them, select all the component gates of the boolean gate while holding Ctrl. Then right click one of the selected entries, select Create Boolean, and finally choose the type of boolean gate you want to make.

With the exception of quadrant gates and boolean gates, when a gate is finalized, a popup will appear allowing you to name the new gate.

To create a sub-gate, select a gate to apply it to a file and then draw the new child gate.

Once a gate is created, the stats for the gate will be calculated and displayed. If the gate is a top-level gate, the percentage shown will be the percent of total events that are contained in the gate. If the gate is a sub-gate, two percentages will be shown. The first percentage is percent of total events contained in the gate. The second percentage is the percent of events in the parent gate that are contained in the child gate.

Apply Gate

To apply a gate and mask out all events not contained within it, click the gate name from the file tree.

Copy Gate

To copy a gate from one population and apply it to a different population, you can drag the gate from the file tree and drop it onto another population. To do this, the target population must have parameters that match the original gate parameters exactly. There is currently no way to manually reconcile parameter names that differ between files.

You can select multiple gates to drag-and drop at the same time by holding ctrl/cmd.

Edit Gate

All gates can be edited after they are created. To edit a gate, click on it in the plot. Once it is selected, its vertices will be highlighted. From there, you can drag the gate as a whole to a new position or drag individual vertices to adjust its size and shape.

Once a gate is selected in the plot, you can also drag-and-drop the gate label to anywhere on the plot.

Renaming a Gate

To rename a gate, right click it in the file tree and select Rename.

Display Options

The appearance of gates on the plot can be altered by right-clicking the plot and changing the following display options:

Gate Line Thickness

The thickness of the gate lines can be set to 'thin', 'medium', or 'thick'.
